UPDATE: WE MADE IT

Today, Friday the 10th of August was our hottest day in 7 years. With a high of 103 today it was the hottest day since 9/4/00! The 103 broke the record high for today by 1 degree. I am forecasting highs of 102 both Saturday and Sunday. The record on Saturday is 103 and 104 on Sunday. Both were set in 1954.

Relative Humidity at 31% Saturday afternoon making the hot temperatures feel a lot better than Friday's!
Winds gusting to 21 MPH helps too.
Heat index only 102, not quite up to the danger level of 105.

As David has noted on the main page:

.. Record high temperature set at Jackson...

a record high temperature of 106 degrees was set at Jackson today.
This breaks the old record of 105 set in 1954.

Back then, very few homes in Jackson had air conditioning, those that did had a Window Unit, cooling one room.

Insulation in the ceiling and walls was not provided in many homes, so one had little protection from the Sun.
